A rather spectacular double aberration described thus.

NOTE: Cockerell's "flava" was canary-yellow as was Mosely's "aurea" and Schmidt's "hibernica". Frohawk's were the extreme ends of the depth of yellow, citronea being a rich citron-yellow and "flavescens" a pale primrose.

In these females only the apex of the underside of the forewings is yellow, the disc being white. In the yellow "Head" strain of sulphurea the disc is also yellow.

The apical mark of the forewings is very large and in the form of an equilateral triangle. The black in certain of the intervals is feebly divided by faint traces of white ground colour.

The uppersides of these males exhibit a series of black scales immediately below the normal forewing discal spot. The scales may also be produced towards the apex.

On the upperside of the forewings the lower discal spots connect with the margin in a neural streak.

These males exhibit a series of black scales immediately below the normal discal spot on the underside.

In some specimens these scales form a band uniting the two spots when both are present, but occurs equally well in specimens having the lower spot absent.

The black may extend as far as the apex.

Bilateral gynandromorph.

This particular specimen is a perfect bilateral gynandromorphy with the left side male and right side female.

This specimen is an intersex, nearly all female but showing some male scaling on the left hand forewing.
