Hackray's description is wrong if compared with the original photograph. He says the lowest median black spot is affected as in ab. ovalis in Argynnis aglaja. In A. aglaja it certainly is the median spot that is affected, but in euphrosyne it is the one nearer the base as shown in the photograph of the type.
