ab. fuscata Author?

I don't have a copy of the original author's description. But as clearly seen this female is of a very smokey coloured ground colour.

A partial gynandromorph or intersex.

Left side showing some male scales streaking on both wings.

There is also a small streak of male scales on the apical patch on the right forewing.

ab. flava ter Haar 1899

In these female forms the ground colour is a butter-yellow. The other yellow forms are all probably best dealt with under this term - ab. flava ter Haar.

A double aberration showing the following features:

ab. deleta:           The apical mark of the forewings is very indistinct and powdered with white. This applies to the summer generation only, not the spring generation where it is common.
                              Strand obviously named this as it is so uncommon in the summer generation.

ab. unimacula:  Female with only one black discal spot on the upperside of the forewings instead f the usual two.

There are no, or very light, black markings on the apical area of the forewing.

The apical mark on the upperside of the forewings is extended and limited interiorly by a straight line, forming a triangle.
