Only in the males these specimens have brilliant violet-blue upperside.

pathological refers to the pale patches on the right hand side.

ab. furvescens:  The marginal lunules are brown-red instead of orange. On the upperside they are partially or wholly  clouded by brown scaling.

The female upperside is entirely pale blue with narrow black markings inside the white fringes and a series of pale whitish marks in place of the orange marginal lunules of the forewings.

The hindwings show white edging to the marginal spots.

The forewings have the discoidal spot, but it is very faint on the hindwings.
